The Collaborative

A Collaboration involving the City of Columbus, Franklin County and Columbus Public Schools (CCS) should enter into an agreement to develop an action plan with monetary means to address the entire needs in each zone. The Collaboration has a responsibility to prioritize the work needed in each zone.

The sooner we address the whole community, the less painful the necessary changes would be. We can no longer accept the current conditions of our neighborhoods, we can change them, and with that, we can then pay sustained attention to our youth, record our accomplishments, police our communities and the services provided.

1.Divide the City into (4) zones North, South, East and West.

2.Make a physical assessment of planned development for each zone.

3.Account for all non-use buildings or structures including vacant houses and vacant lots.

4.Account for number school buildings in each zone.

5.Place school buildings assessments with current conditions to equal monetary replacement, repair, renovate or expand.

6.All data collected should include service upkeep and needs.

7.Each member of the Collaborative group should submit the cost to replace, repair, renovate, build or expand.

8. Collaboration should be time sensitive on how the work needed is done, could enter into contracts with minority, small and large businesses.

9. Incentives to build or invest in the zones by developers, small and large businesses, tax abatements should be modified and reversed to have tax money invested right back, into zones.
